Bollywood or Copywood – Pakistani songs copied by Indian Cinema

Pakistan music industry has been producing many hit songs in the past. There was a time when Pakistani music was really outstanding. Industry produced amazing unforgettable melodies. Most of them were featured in Lollywood and many of them air on state own television. The Pakistani music has also ruled in neighbor country and many of them have praised it, directly and indirectly. Bollywood stolen many melodies from Lollywood and used them in their own movies without giving credit to its real creator.

They haven’t took only Pakistani music but most of the time they didn’t changed the lyrics of the songs and released it. There is a huge list of the songs which were copied by Bollywood, here we have compiled few of them:

The “Shama” movie was released in 1974. The movie was directed by Nazar Shabab. Leading cast of the movie were Muhammad Ali, Nadeem, Waheed Murad, Deeba, Babra Shareef and Zeba. Music director was M. Ashraf. There was a song sung by Naheed Akhtar and was picturised on Zeba. Song title was “Kisi Mehrban nay Akay”

The same melody was picked up in Bollywood movie “Kal ki Awaz” released in 1992. The song was sung by Asha Bhosle and Kumar Sanu.

Another melody of “Peyasa Kuwain kay pass ata ahy” was picturised for the Lollywood movie “Mera Naam hay Mohabat”. The movie was released in 1975, directed by Shabab Kiranwi and music composer was M. Ashraf. Leading roles were played by Ghulam Muhuyudin and Babra Shareef. The song was sung by Legendry Mehdi Hassan. Unfortunately we didn’t find its video version.

That song was palagiarised in Bollywood’s movie “Dil Tera Ashiq, released in 1993. The song was sung by Udit Narayan.

“Baant Raha tha Jab Khuda” was sung by Mehdi Hassan and Naheed Akhtar for the movie Nazrana, released in 1978. The music was composed by M. Ashraf and song was picturised on Waheed Murad and Nelo.

This time Bollywood tempered the original melody but kept the initial lyrics of the song. The song was sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik for the movie “Baday Dil Wala”, released in 1999.

Babar Khan was the name of the movie released in 1985, music director was M Ashraf and song was “Kala Shah Kala” sung by madam Noor Jahan.

This song was stolen for the Bollywood movie “Aayee Milan ki Raat”, released in 1991

M. Ashraf was the leading music director of the Pakistani film industry. He produced several unforgetable melodies. He produced a song “Hamari Sansoon Main” in 1977 for the movie “Mairay Hazoor”.

In 1992 the same melody copied in the Bollywood movie “Kal ki Awaz” sung by Kumar Sanu and Asha.

Music director produced a song “Woh maira ho na saka” in 1973 for the movie “Azmat”. The song was sung by legend Madam Noor Jahan.

Alka Yagnik sung the same melody for the movie “Qasoor” and the song title was “Dil maira torr dia usnay”

Legendry Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sung “Gham hay ya khushi hay tu” in 1991

The same melody copied in Bollywood movie “Kartoos” in 1999. The song was sung by Alka Yagnik.

Viju Shah the Bollywood music director copied this song for the movie “Mohra”. This time the song was sung by Udit Narayan and Kaviata Krishnamurthy, and was picturised on Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar.

This is not enough, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sang a song in 1990, “Sannu ek pal chain na ai”

The same music was copied in the Bollywood movie “Judaai”.

Pakistan’s famous singer Tasawar Khanum sang a song “Tu mairi zindagi hay” in 1972

In 1990 the same music was copied for the movie “Aashiqi” in 1990. The song was hit and most of the people were not aware about it that it was a copied from Pakistani music.

Shabnam and Nadeem were the hit of their time. They came in several hit movies. A song “Sona na chandi” is one of their most hits. The music was composed by Robbin Ghosh and the movie was “Bandish”.

The same melody was copied in the Bollywood movie “Ik Larka Ik Larki” in 1992. The song was “Choti si Dunia Muhabat ki hay mairay pass”.

In 1992 the famous comedian sang a song Larka Badnam Hua for his movie Mr. Charlie.

And the same composition was copied in Bollywood Movie “Dabang”, “Munni Badnam Hui” in 2010

Sajjad Ali the famous composer and singer sang a song “Yaad tu aati hogi”

The same composition was copied for the movie “Mainay dil tujhko dia” and the song was “Thora sa piar howa hay”
